Elaine Martinez, Special Education Teacher

Elaine Martinez will be teaching Bilingual Special Education at ADS.  She has been teaching special education for 5 years, mostly in the Bronx.  Elaine is excited to work at ADS, because She believe in the dual language model.  She is fully bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish.  This district is special to her because she started her teaching career a few blocks away at 141st Street and Morris Avenue.  Elaine understands exactly what it’s like to grow up bilingual in a setting that highly encourages one to forget ones roots.  Having migrated to the United States at a very young age one of her resolutions was to maintain her language for without it she would lose a large part of her family and herself.
