Lidia is a founding staff member at ADS and a passionate advocate of Biliteracy. Lidia herself was an ELL growing up and gives thanks to the dual language program that helped her thrive not in one but in both English and Spanish. Lidia is currently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Lehman College. Lidia enjoys helping others and building lasting relationships with our current students and families which she considers all her own. Outside of ADS, Lidia enjoys traveling abroad, yoga-ing, jogging, spending time with her pup Luna, touring NYC and cooking.





Portrait of Lilimar PuentesLilimar Puentes, Administrative Assistant Lilimar was born in Venezuela and raised in the Bronx by immigrant parents, she understands the challenge of learning a new language and adapting to a new culture. During Lilimar's childhood, her parents had a hard time interacting with teachers due to the language-barrier, Lilimar has made it her responsibility to be that communication line here at ADS, she wants to make sure parents are being guided through the process. Lilimar loves children and working closely with her community. She enjoys the potential and positive growth each child is capable of. Lilimar has participated in many Peer-Leadership Programs, such as "RAPP" (Relationship Abuse Prevention Program). Where she helped change lives for the better. She knows the importance of supporting children and helping their parents so that together they can reach success. Lilimar plans on achieving a career in the Human Services field. She is very positive and easy-going. She is very excited to be a part of the ADS team, and help each and every student and parent reach their goals!

Maricela Zermeño was born in Acapulco, Mexico and studied at high school in the city of Acapulco. She came to the U.S. to live in New York 22 years ago. Her work and experience have been around the kitchen with different types of food such as Italian, American, Latin, Mediterranean, Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican food. She was also an owner of a Restaurant and Deli-Grocery. She has 4 Children who are her most beautiful treasures in life.

Portrait of Yennifer MurielYennifer Muriel,School Social Worker Yennifer joined the American Dream Charter School in 2017 and has experience working with adolescents in both academic and clinical settings. Born and raised Medellin, Colombia, Yennifer migrated to the United States at the age of 13 where she attended a dual language program and learned the English language. Yennifer received her B.A in Sociology with a minor in Theater from Queens College. Through volunteer work at New York Cares and KEEN New York, Yennifer discovered her passion was to help youth fulfill their true potential. After working for two years at a Transfer High School in Queens, Yennifer attended Stony Brook University in Long Island and obtained her Masters in Social Work with a focus on Mental Health. Yennifer strives to promote social justice and empower students to fulfill their dreams. On her free time, Yennifer loves to spend time with her daughter and explore performing art shows, meditation, and yoga.
